Our financial planning, insurance and investment advisery company is based in Hastings, the fruit bowl of New Zealand. The company is named Wealth Building Strategies Limited, and was established in 2002 and is wholly owned by Michael & Debbie Shaw and their family trust.

We are financial planners, insurance and investment advisers with no moral, legal or practical ties to any suppliers of financial products. We provide advice on insurance and investments to a client base that is largely retired or near retirement age, and mostly based in the Hawke's Bay.

We unconditionally guarantee that all client money will be handled honestly and always as the client instructs.

    Our advice is based on what our clients want, if they are retired people, security, liquidity and reliable regular income are usually more important than capital growth on the other hand those saving for retirement don't want income and prefer capital growth. Accordingly investment portfolios are designed to meet the individual clients needs.

We use Morningstar Research to identify the best performing managed funds for clients portfolios. For the fixed interest portion of client portfolios we prefer to use a selection of researched finance companies. We also analyse these finance company accounts and remain in regular contact with the finance company officers to ascertain the finance company's ongoing strengths and weaknesses. We don't pretend to be research experts nor attempt to publish ratings or grading scores. If we don't like what a finance company is doing we won't recommend it's products to our clients.

 
   

Our knowledge and experience comes from;

Ron Graham has been providing investment and Insurance advice in various forms since 1985. Ron Graham operates as a self employed contractor with Wealth Building Strategies Limited. Ron Graham is a Member of the Institute of Financial Advisers and holds the designations of ALU Associate Life Underwriter and AFP Associate Financial Planner

Michael Shaw has also been providing investment advice in various forms since 1985. Michael became a full time investment adviser in 1994 when he set up on his own account as a financial planner. Michael Shaw is the founder and Managing Director of Wealth Building Strategies Limited. Michael Shaw is a Member of the Institute of Financial Advisers and holds the designation of AFP Associate Financial Planner

We do not operate a Client Trust Account. All investment monies received from clients will be delivered to the appropriate product issuer for processing as soon as practicable after being received from the client. All property will be dealt with in a confidential and secure manner. All money that is to be invested will be either via cheque or direct credit paid/payable directly to the product provider or their nominee and crossed "not transferable account payee only". Wealth Building Strategies Limited will forward the cheque to the provider who will acknowledge receipt for this cheque to the client in writing. We do not employ an auditor. Neither Wealth Building Strategies Limited nor Ron Graham or Michael Shaw use clients' money or property for the benefit of any person or ourselves. This applies to all monies that are to be invested.
